Kodak's label printers take a different approach. The Kodak all-in-one label and business card printer is inkjet-based. That means it can print in full color—branded labels, QR codes, product stickers, business cards. The Brother is monochrome-only.

Brands in this space include Roland and Graphtec on the high end, and budget options like VEVOR on the lower end. This gets into wide-format territory, which isn't my core expertise. What I can tell you from a quality-review perspective: pay attention to two specs. First, print resolution—most true wide-format machines run 1440 DPI or higher, well above the 300 DPI minimum we use for standard commercial print. E-commerce seller processing daily shipments: Get the Brother QL-800. Learn the paper change once, and it'll serve you for years. The per-label cost is unbeatable.

Small business producing branded product labels: Look at the Kodak label printer for color output. Just keep a thermal printer on standby for high-volume logistics labels.

Sign shop or vehicle-wrap business: Buy a vinyl printer and cutter from Roland, Graphtec, or another wide-format specialist. This is outside Kodak's lineup, and that's fine. Trying to make a general-purpose printer do vinyl work is the most expensive mistake I've seen a shop make.

General office use: A Kodak all-in-one covers printing, scanning, and copying with a trusted brand name. Epson's EcoTank is also worth comparing if your volume is high and your ink costs are getting out of hand.

Bottom Line

Printers aren't interchangeable. A Kodak Step produces impressively consistent instant photos. A Brother QL-800 produces unbeatable thermal labels. A vinyl printer and cutter exists in a category Kodak intentionally stays out of. Each has a place—the key is matching the tool to the job, not the brand to the shelf.
